Delilah Siena

Why the name?  It was not because of the song Hey There Delilah - although that didn’t hurt since both DeeDee and I really like it.  Rather, DeeDee’s mother is named Dee and instead of name our daughter DeeDeeDee (a common joke) we instead chose to carry on the tradition of at least the “Dee” portion.  Both of us really like the name “Lyla” as well so it just so happened that we could post both desires together and get a name we both really liked.  We plan to mostly call her “Lilah” as it sounds so nice (and even spells pretty.)  However, formally it is Delilah.

Siena came up late in our naming process since neither of us had a name jump out early on (Delilah came to us in the early months.)  Siena was one of the early names that I threw out but we both felt Sienna Miller had really ruined the only face we had associated with that name.  The name came up due to the fact that DeeDee and I spend two weeks traveling through Italy (Amalfi Coast and then Tuscany/Umbria) over the summer (see DeeDee.com for photo journal.)  Anyways, Siena was the one city that really stood out in its romantic setting and amazing, European feel.  Since Liilah was with us for the entire trip we felt the name took greater meaning and thought it would mean something to us all.

The above poster currently sits in the nursery.  DeeDee put it together once we locked down the name.  If you click on the post you’ll get a high-res version.  There, you can maybe see how DeeDee integrated the lyrics to Hey There Delilah into the border and butterfly trails.  It really came out great.
