Smiles version 2.0

For awhile, Delilah would briefly smile.  As parents, we liked to think it was a purposeful smile but, looking back, it was probably just a reflex.  All that changed this past weekend as she is now smiling with purpose and, at times, totally interacting with us.

I heard from a number of friends who have newborns that the moment your child smiles at you is like no other.  Now that we have hit this milestone, I completely understand what they meant.  There is little way to describe it other than it can completely melt you.

I can certainly see how little Lilah might be able to leverage this new found skill down the road as I can only imagine that a smile like this (or even scary a droopy sad face) would be able to get her whatever she wants (at least from her dad.)  Such a skill is something Delilah’s mom mastered early on.

I also wanted to post this video since it shows Delilah during one of several of her alert times throughout the day.  She’s good for maybe two or three of these several hour periods all sandwiched between sleeping and eating.
