Preschool Activities
Once Delilah got to school, she immediately went off and starting playing. For this first day, the parents were asked to sit to the side and appear busy (read a magazine, etc.). If the kids were doing well on their own, then the parents were asked to say bye to their kid, and either hide out in the office or go grab coffee, just somewhere close enough so that the school could call the parent if the child became upset. Jason left first as he had to go to work, and Delilah sent him off with a prompt “Bye!”. DeeDee stayed and chatted with some other moms until the teacher felt that Delilah was ready to have DeeDee leave as well (i.e., hide out in the office). DeeDee said bye to Delilah and got a “Bye!” without a second glance. About an hour and a half later, it was lunch time and all the parents returned. The kids were happy as clams.
As Delilah and DeeDee were leaving, the boy in orange yelled “BYE DELILAH!” across the parking lot. Looks like Delilah made a new friend. :)
