Big Milestone of the Day:  Lilah’s Crib Time

Having solved the feeding milestone, the next big gain we were looking forward to was to be able to put Lilah in her crib, by herself, for an extended period of time.  Up until today, we either had her in our arms or feeding - no other state.  Otherwise, we could put her down into a crib and she would almost immediately start screaming.

The last few days we were able to get her into the crib only once she was into a deep sleep.  Even in those cases she would still only stay down for a few minutes.  This morning was the first time we were able to put her down awake and have her lull herself into an extended sleep - although only 30 or 40 minutes.  However, this is big.

I personally felt that one of the big keys to her first independent chill time in the crib was the excellent baby lullaby playlist that I have put together on her iPod dock.  It started by a few songs from the “Rock-a-bye Baby” lullaby collection (but I have since added a few other versions of lullabies.)  As of today, her lullaby playlist looks as following:

  1. Don’t Stop Believing - Journey
  2. Sweet Child O’ Mine - Guns n’ Roses
  3. Every Rose Has Its Thorn - Poison
  4. Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton
  5. Living on a Prayer - Bon Jovi
  6. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
  7. One - Metallica
  8. Fade to Black - Metallica
  9. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
  10. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
  11. Hotel California - Eagles

Pretty impressive if I do say so myself.  Of course, the only thing missing is a little hip-hop but I have yet to find any Kanye or Dre lullabies online.  If those do not exist, I think there is a business venture there.
